JAMMU, June 22: Director Agriculture Jammu Hari Krishan Razdan along with team of officers today inspected the on-going programmes being implemented under National Adaptation Fund for Climate Change Project (NAFCC) and other Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS) in Bhalwal Block for the welfare of farmers. Director Agriculture inaugurated community deep bore well at village Marjali amid gathering of farmers which has been established with 100% assistance by the Department under NAFCC. The Borewell water stored at the community pond will ultimately facilitate the irrigation needs of the whole village. H. K. Razdan, on the occasion asked the farmers to take full advantage of this unique facility by growing multiple crops of vegetables, pulses and fodder to uplift their financial status. Interacting on the occasion Sh Razdan said that for the upkeep and maintenance of this borewell facility will be looked after by the village committee constituted for this purpose. Later Director Agriculture also inspected the individual bore wells dug with the assistance of department at Marjali, Berha, Lower Gharota, Sobka and Dumi under NAFCC. Farmers whose fields were visited include Choudhary Bachan Singh (Marjali), Dheru Ram (Gharota), Sahil Singh (Lower Gharota), Ashok Kumar (Berha) and Ramesh Singh (Dumi). The team of officers also inspected the Line sowing demonstration of maize crop in the field of Narotam Singh at Gharota and Bower system for raising vegetables in the field of Ramesh Singh at Dumi. Earlier Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer, Marh Rajinder Singh Jamwal presented the overall view of the various activities undertaken by the department under NAFCC project/CSS for the welfare of the farmers of the area which include 19 nos of Bore-wells, 13 nos of Vermicompost units, and 22 nos of Vermi-bed units. Director Agriculture Jammu was accompanied by the team of officers comprising of Jagmohan Bhat, A. K. Arora, Arun Makhnotra, J. C. Raina, Sh Dinesh Sharma, B.K. Kaul, Vikas Sharma, Amrik Singh and other field functionaries including JAEOs and VAEAs of the area |
