Coming down heavily on the traditional ruling parties like Congress, NC and the PDP, Samajwadi Party state President, Sheikh Abdullah Rehman, has said that ‘mere exploiting the people’ these parties have done nothing during the past 60 years. ‘Instead of mitigating the woes and miseries of the teeming masses’, these parties are indulging in exploiting the people by playing political gimmicks with an eye on next elections, he alleged.
Addressing a public meeting at village Parwa in Marh Block, the SP leader said that the alliance partners, who were at draggers drawn on almost all important issues since formation of the government in the state, have once again started reviving their friendship to befool and exploit the electorate.
He said that during the coalition dispensation the corruption has increased in the corridors of power, unemployment has multiplied and problems of lower strata of society have crossed all limits.
Rehman further said that while NC Patron is harping on ‘greater autonomy’, the PDP is seeking ‘self rule’ and ‘demilitarization’, the Congress opposes the both tooth and nail.
Making a front attack on BJP for raising the issue of Ram Mandir, abrogation of Article 370 and common civil court during the NDA rule at the centre, the SP leader said the NDA is now harping on Ram Setu issue to play a ‘communal card’ to win over the majority community vote and asserted ‘that this won’t work’.
Referring to the formation of the newly floated third Morcha ‘UPMA’ on the initiative of SP National President, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Sheikh said that since both the NDA and UPA have failed to deliver goods, the people are looking forward for an alternative at national and state levels. He expressed his optimism that the UPMA, the conglomerate of 14 major parties, would provide better alternative at the hustings and appealed the people to support the SP in the state which is a vital organ of the third front.
Party State Secretary R S Chouhan also addressed the meeting which was organized by Rohit Sharma and Bhushan Sharma, who, on this occasion, announced their decision to join the Samajwadi Party along with their supporters. Welcoming their decision the party chief admitted them in the party fold.
