Early Times Reporter Udhampur | Feb 20 In the three-day selection process, the Sports Training Centre (STC) Udhampur has shortlisted 20 boys (13 years to 18 years) in three different events of Volleyball, Athletics and Kabaddi under residential scheme from within and outside the state. Now, the selected list will be sent for final approval and clearance from the Director General Sports Authority of India (SAI), New Delhi. The training of these selected boys is expected to start in May. “These 20 boys have been short-listed by a committee set up for the purpose which interviewed the applicants from February 12 to February 14 at STC Udhampur. The committee members were also joined by the Regional Director SAI, S S Roy on February 14 to personally supervise the selection process,” Assistant Director STC Udhampur, B S Tirthi told Sports & Allied News. Besides 20 selections under residential scheme, the STC Udhampur has also short-listed four boys for day-boarding in Athletics. The selected list: Volleyball: Zahid Iqbal, Mendhar in Poonch and Ashish Kumar Raina, Sunderbani in Rajouri. Athletics: Jog Raj, Kishtwar; Surjit Kumar, Kishtwar; Rahul Sharma, Kathua; Sunil Kumar, Udhampur; Mohd Sharif, Kathua; Jeevan Singh, Chenani in Udhampur and Ravinder Kumar Sharma, Agar Jitto in Reasi. Day-boarding (all from Udhampur): Ajay Kumar, Ajay Sharma, Chaman Lal and Inzmam-ul-Haq. Kabaddi: Surinder Singh, Haryana; Anoop Kumar, Haryana; Manmeet Singh, Jammu; Rattan Singh, Udhampur; Mohd Saleem, Kathua; Chaman Singh, Udhampur; Farooq Ahmed, Rajouri; Kapil Sharma, Jammu and Ravinder, Haryana.
