Gill scripts close win for J&K Police

Former Ranji Trophy player, Rajesh Gill today ensured a nine-run victory for J&K Police over Jehlum Industries XI after he clinched four wickets in the league round of ongoing 2nd Anandrathi Corporate Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament at University of Jammu ground, here today.

Earlier, Jehlum Industries XI won the toss and elected to field. Batting first, J&K Police XI set a target of 145 runs for the loss of three wickets, which, in reply, Jehlum Industries could not chase and exhausted their quota of 20 over making 135 runs losing eight wickets.
Shashi, who opened the Police innings, made 48 runs off 36 balls including five boundaries. Dany played equally well making 39-ball 48 runs with five fours and remained unbeaten. Rajesh Gill and Riaz contributed 16 and 22 runs respectively. Romy Jamwal and Ankut Khajuria shared one wicket each for Jehlum Industries.
Batting second, Jehlum Industries could make 135 runs for eight in the allotted 20 over. Needing 25 runs in two over with three wickets in hand, Jehlum Industries could add only 16 runs and lost the match by nine runs. Besides Ankit, who made 54-ball 59 runs and remained not out, Vishal also played good innings of 22 runs. Extras contributed second highest 24 runs.
From J&K Police XI, Rajesh Gill took four wickets for 24 runs while Shamsher Singh, Samir Sharma and Naresh Kumar shared a piece each.
