Anantnag administration fails to stop constructions on Srinagar-Banihal expressway
Army's advice ignored

Early Times Report
Anantnag, June 27: Despite Army's advice, the revenue department officers have miserably failed to stop constructions along the newly constructed Srinagar-Banihal expressway.
Locals informed Early Times that some influential people continue to raise constructions along the highway particularly in Qazigund area of South Kashmir.
They said that at Dalvach-Qazigund a family completed the constructions of over five shops but the revenue officers despite being informed timely couldn't demolish the illegally raised structures.
Highly placed sources informed that violators are bribing the revenue officers before staring the raising the constructions along the expressway.
"These constructions come up literally under the supervision of revenue officers," they said.
"Under the garb of law and order the corrupt revenue officers refuse to demolish these structures" they said, adding that officers have nexus with the violators and under proper planning violators are being guided take legal route.
A few days ago, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag told Early Times that he directed Tehsildar Qazigund to bring down illegally raised structures but apparently his sub-ordinate officer hadn't complied with his directions as no demolition drive was carried out by the revenue department till this evening.
As reported earlier, Army last year had requested Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and Inspector General of Police to pass on the directions to their sub-ordinate officials for stopping the construction activity on highway.
However the Army's request hasn't been heard and it simply hasn't yielded any positive results as constructions continue to take place. Important to mention, The Jammu and Kashmir Government had banned all sorts of constructions all along the newly constructed Srinagar-
Banihal expressway and had declared it 'No construction Zone'.
