Jammu, June 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Construction Division (JKPCD) is reportedly spending several lakhs of rupees to renovate the quarter of a 'blue-eyed' police official.
Sources in the police department informed Early Times that in the Old NGO block-05 at Gulshan Ground Police quarters, the JKPCD has been renovating the quarters. One such quarter belonged to a 'blue-eyed' police official who is known for his political connections.
"For the last many days, the JKPCD has been renovating the quarter of this police official, who has at present putting up at Block No. 5 of the quarters", sources said, adding that the construction division has got the structure of building changed to suit the choice of this 'blue-eyed' official.
"The flooring was completely replaced with superior flooring, the window frames were replaced with new broad frames. To fit these new frames, even the structure of building was changed. The structure of kitchen as well as bathroom was also changed completely", sources said, adding that from the new frames, one could easily gauge the preferential treatment given to this official.
An official in the division informed Early Times that over Rs 5 lakhs have been spent so far on the renovation of this particular quarter. "Two years back the same building was renovated by Police Construction Division, and last year it was renovated by Police Housing Corporation. Now the Police Construction Division is again spending money on it", sources said, adding that many officers have been knocking the doors of the senior officials to get even simple whitewash done to their quarters, but some 'blue-eyed' get preferential treatment due to blessings of seniors.
Sources further alleged that a huge renovation scandal has been going on in the police department but none was going to enquire the matter and get the scandal exposed. |
