One day Women Health Awareness Camp was organized by the Directorate of Field Publicity , Government of India in coordination with Programme Officer (ICDS) at Dansal block headquarters 35 kms from here yesterday. The rural women /Anganwadi workers were sensitized about various National Health Programmes presently undertaken in the country. Besides various components of National Rural Health Mission with special concern on decline of female ratio as attributed. “With one girl for every seven born being killed, female foeticide n Jammu region”, were taken up by the experts. The participants and experts expressed their concern on alarming decline of child sex ratio 820 Girls per thousand boys in Jammu district 932 in J&K State. In the Seminar on “ Importance of Iodized Salt”, Smt. Babli Devi from Shaddli , Smt. Radha Sharma from Suketar, Smt. Reva Rani from Garni, Smt. Tripta from Dansal, Smt. Neelam from Nagrota, Miss Shakti Devi from Kanyala villages of Dansal block expressed their views and upon the women folk to ensure daily intake of iodine in the diet for overall mental and physical growth of children and pregnant women. Smt. Mukesh Lata and Smt. Shashi Prabha Supervisors of ICDS Project coordinated the organizes in making the event fruitful and result oriented. Dr. Narinder Sharma an expert from Primary Health Centre Dansal clarified the doubts and myths of rural women on various health related issues including iodine deficiency disorders. The photo-exhibition entitled “Happy Mother- Happy Child” organized on the occasion was witnessed by the rural women with keen interest.
