| PDP welcomes union govt's decision | | | Early Times Reporter Kishtwar | Feb 22
District Youth wing of Peoples Democratic Party Kishtwar has welcomed the decision of central government for registering the prestigious Berser Hydroelectric power project as National Project. Referring to the statement of Union Water Resource Minister Prof Saifuddin Soz that the government of India has registered Berser Project as national project, district president (youth) PDP Ishtiyaq Hussain Waza said that the decision will not only help in the overall development of the far flung areas of Kishtwar but it will boost economic and power potential of the state. In a statement, issued here today, Mr. Waza said that the commencement of work on the prestigious power project has been a long cherished dream of the local populace who has been deprived of developmental work and employment opportunities in the past. The PDP leader urged the central government to given preference to the local youth while employing technical, skilled and non-skilled workers in the upcoming power project. "The unemployment is on an alarming rise in the district and this power project is a golden opportunity for both central and state governments to provide employment to the local youth", he said.
