| Law Dept felicitates former chief justice and VC JU | | | Early Times Reporter

Law Department of Jammu University today organized a function to felicitate Former Chief Justice of India, Chairman Human Right Commission of India, Justice AS Anand and Vice Chancellor Jammu University Amitabh Matoo, the great sons of J&K for receiving most prestigious Padam Vibushan, second highest civilian award of the country and Padmshree award.
In his welcome address, Dean LAW department Prof. SK Sharma stated that it is the matter of honor for the Law Department to honour the great alumni of the state. He said that both have lifted the name of the state in their field. He also said that if J&K is the crown of the country, then both these personalities are the jewels on the crown of Country.
Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Jammu University, Amitabh Matto described him as the great son of the soil and said that he is the role model for the young lawyers of the state. He on the occasion also thanked the organizers for organizing function and congratulated Chief Justice for receiving the prestigious award. He also assured that he will try his best to come on the expectations of the people and his supporters.
Justice AS Anand while speaking on this occasion shared his life experiences with audience. He stated that under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Matoo University has achieved lots of developments. He further added that this felicitation provides him opportunity to thanks the teachers, parents and to the legal fraternity. He also paid homage to the teachers under whose guidance he has reached to this position. He also added that Jammu University has the special place in his heart. It is the age of Excellence he added and law Department is progressing very well under the guidance of well qualified staff and leadership of Prof. Matto.
The function was attended by the various dignitaries of the state including, Justice Hakeem Imityaz of High Court, Director College Development Council, Meenkashi Kilam, Prof. BPS Sehgal, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. PS Pathania, Dean Student Welfare, Balraj Puri an eminent Writer, Justice AM Mir, Advocate SS Lehar, Advocate Seema Shekhar, Advocate BK Jalali and Bar Association President BS Salathia.
