Police XI loses to J P World in Twenty-20 cricket

In the ongoing league round of the 2nd Anandrathi Corporate Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament, Jammu and Kashmir Police XI today lost to JP World XI by five wickets at University of Jammu ground, here.
In another league match of the day, Press Club XI had narrow escape against Chamber of Commerce XI winning the game by five runs.
In the second match of the day, J&K Police XI won the toss and decided to bat. They made 129 runs losing all their wickets in 19.1 over.
Dany was top scorer with 29-ball 30 runs while Akshay Khajuria contributed 14-ball 27 hitting five boundaries. Rajesh Gill (27 off 15 balls, 1x6, 5x4) and Jatinder Raina (15 off 5 balls, 1x6) were other main scorers. From JP World XI, Pranab Mahajan caused maximum damage to the Police batting line taking three wickets for 17 runs. Manik, Ashwani and Parveen Sharma shared two each.
In reply, JP World overhauled the Police total rather in fourth delivery of the final 20th over with five wickets in hand. Pranab Mahajan again played a key role making unbeaten 25 off 20 balls including four boundaries. Munish Dogra remained the top scorer with 41-ball 50 runs made with the help of five fours. Irshad contributed 27 runs.
Sunil claimed two wickets for Police XI while Rajesh Gill and Jatinder shared one each. For his all-round performance, Pranab Mahajan was declared man of the match.
Earlier, in the first match of the day, Press Club XI registered a narrow win of five runs trouncing Chamber of Commerce XI.
Batting first after winning the toss, Press Club XI set a target of 170 runs for the loss of eight wickets, which, in reply, Chamber of Commerce could not achieve exhausting their quota of 20 over for 164 with one wicket in hand.
Pardeep Bali was top scorer from Press Club XI with 65 off 34 balls while Vimarsh Kaw contributed 32. Karan and Raman Dutta contributed 20 and 22 runs respectively. From Chamber of Commerce, Dilbag clinched five wickets for 17 runs in three over. Hardeep Singh and Anil Balgotra shared two and one wicket respectively.
Batting second, despite a brilliant knock from Mohsin Iqbal, Chamber of Commerce XI failed in their attempts to chase the total in a closely contested match. Mohsin made 30-ball 52 with the help of two sixes and an equal number of boundaries. Vivek and Anil contributed 38 and 20 runs respectively. Manjeet added 18 runs with the help of two sixes.
Ashwani Gupta was most successful bowler from Press Club with three for 30 while Amit Balloria took two and Vijay Dogra one wicket. Later, Dilbag Singh was adjudged man of the match for his bowling performance of five for 17.
