Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 22
If a leading Kashmir-born US settled cardiologist is to be believed, the Valley of Kashmir is awaiting a special guest this summer –the emerging democratic and former Pakistan Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharief. Dr Fayaz Shawl, head of the Cardiovascular Medicine at George Washington University in US has says that Nawaz Sharief has Kashmir on his itinerary for the forthcoming summer. He has claimed himself to be a close friend of Nawaz Sharief –the hot contender for Pakistan Prime Minister post. The non resident Kashmir doctor is planning to being up heart hospital in Srinagar for which he said that Nawaz Sharief, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Sachin Tendulkar are supporting him. “I will not declare the place where the hospital will be located as I have not yet got the permission, but I want the hospital to be attached with the SKIMS. The project will cost Rs 55-60 crore. I am here at the request of the government. Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the former chief minister, told me to come here and help the people. I owe this to my land. I want to pay it back as I was born here. The hospital will be open for all. My philosophy is, ‘bill the rich and treat the poor’,” he said. Nawaz Sharief, according to Shawl, would be in Srinagar when the work on a hospital being constructed by him will take off in the summer. “Sharif has told me it’s his dream to visit Srinagar. He has assured me he would come over here once the work on hospital begins,” Dr Shawl said.
