| HUM militant shot dead by security forces in Jammu | | |
Jammu, Aug 26 Security forces have shot dead a Harkat-ul-Mujaheedin (HUM) militant in Doda district and recovered arms and explosives from a field in Kathua, official sources said here today.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of Rashtriya Rifles (RR), CRPF and Special Operation Group (SOG) of police launched an operation in Nagni area of Kishtwar tehsil in Doda district last night, they said adding in the brief encounter one self-styled section commander of HUM was shot dead.
One pistol with its magazine and four rounds and one hand grenade were recovered from the slain militant, whose identity is being ascertained, the sources said.
Meanwhile, in Kathua, one labourer Dinanath, who was cutting grass in the field of Sain Dass at Pali mode, detected a consignment of ammunition and explosives last evening.
He informed the authorities immediately. Later a team of territorial army rushed to the spot and recovered 520 rounds of SLR 132 rounds of pistol and six (HE-36) hand grenades, they said. |
