CIIL, Dogri Sanstha hold two day orientation programme

Dogri Sanstha in collaboration with Central Institute of Indian Languages (CIIL), Mysore organized two-day Orientation Programme here at Dogri Sanstha Bhawan to gear up towards introducing the Dogri Style manual prepared by CIIL.
The programme was inaugurated by veteran Dogri writer Padmashree Prof Ram Nath Shastri, Prof B Mallikarjun of CIIL was also present on inaugural function.
Ram Nath Shastri, while inaugurating the programme appreciated the efforts of CIIL, Mysore in preparing the Dogri Style Manual and said that the style manual will serve as a benchmark for writers, scholars and researchers working in the field of Dogri Language, Literature and Journalism
He also expressed his happiness about the earlier projects completed by CIIL like preparation of Dogri pictorial glossary, pronunciation cassettes, Bhartiya Bhasha Jyoti etc and more important promoting Dogri languages.
Prof B Mallikarjun highlighted the importance of Dogri Style Manual and appreciated the efforts of resources persons with this work. He said that prior to the final publication of style manual it has been circulated to more than 30 writers, scholars of Dogri and other languages, who are not directly associated with the production of the style manual. He also in formed that gathering that the feedback and the response of these scholars were extremely positive and encouraging.
Prof. Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha said that production of Dogri Style Manual is first work of its kind and a firm step towards standardization of techniques and methodologies concerning publication of works in Dogri Language and Literature. He said like any evolving organism there is diversity in the field of Dogri Language and Literature with different styles and methods of express ion and Publication. This Style Manual will initiate a process of bringing uniformity and standardization. He said that Dogri Sanstha feels privileged and proud of being associated with this project and more so because the publication of the Style Manual will be undertaken by Dogri Sanstha. Among others who spoke on an occasion were Veena Gupta, Dr. Shashi Pathania, Dr. Satpal Srivatsa, Dr. Shiv Dev Manhas and Dr. Bharat Bhushan.
Those to whom the Style Manual has been circulated include Dr. Karan Singh, Prof. Laxami Narayan,Sh. Shiv Nath, Prof. Nilamber Dev Sharma.Prof.Champa Sharma,Sh. Ved Rahi, Prof. Kapil Kapoor an Internationally known linguist and scholar, etc.
