| Now, electronic ears are here | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 23 Bangalore based Advanced Bionics India through its local channel partners JK Electronic Ears are planning to launch ‘electronic ears’ for the persons suffering with sensor neural hearing loss and nervous deafness. In a bid to make doctors of Jammu, particularly the ENT specialists aware of the technique, a one day interactive session was organized by the AB India and JKEE here today. Prior to the session, interacting with the media – the key speaker at the session – Dr Shalabh Sharma from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital New Delhi and Veetika Bhatnagar from AB India said that the device is an implant which can be fitted through a surgery to patient, who can then hear like a normal being. They informed that the entire procedure costs between six to nine lakhs and comes with a warranty period of 10 years. Dr Shalabh said that device is presently available in developed countries for last 15 years and is available in different outlets opened by the company in India. Till date around 10000 patients have already been benefited through the implantation. He added that in order to help the patients various banks are providing loans on the cheaper rates to under to undergo such implantations. |
