| Dhruv his another century as Simula enters QFs | | 2nd Anandrathi Corporate Twenty-20 Cricket | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 23 Winning all their three matches in league round, hosts Simula Sports Club today entered the knock-out stage of quarterfinals of the ongoing 2nd Anandrathi Corporate Twenty-20 Cricket Tournament at University of Jammu ground, here. Former J&K Ranji skipper, who plays for ICL, Dhruv Mahajan continued his fine performance hitting second consecutive century that fashioned Simula’s 58 runs victory against Hindustan Coca Cola XI today. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, Simula Sports Club set a big target of 216 runs for the loss of five wickets, which, in reply, Coca Cola XI could not chase despite their great efforts and exhausted their quota of 20 over at a score of 157 for the loss of seven wickets. Dhruv Mahajan played excellent innings of unbeaten 119 runs off 55 deliveries including seven hits over the fence and 13 to the fence. Azhar contributed second highest 58 runs including eight boundaries. From Coca Cola XI, Vipal Ratra, Asif and Dany shared a one wicket each. Later, chasing a target of near 11-run per over, Cola Cola put in best of their efforts but fell short of runs to attain their goal making 157 runs for seven. Tinku was top scorer with 48-ball 51 runs including eight boundaries. Asif made quick-fire 49 off mere 27 balls hitting four sixes and three boundaries. Tanvir and Rathore contributed 19 and 12 runs respectively. Dhruv Mahajan, Varun Puri, Hilal Rather shared two wickets each while Mohit Puri bagged one. For his excellent batting, Dhruv Mahajan was obvious choice for the man of the match award. The LG DVD, a prize for man of the match, was presented to Dhruv by Ranjit Kalra, Assistant Director, Academic Staff College, University and working committee member of Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association. In another league match of the day, University of Jammu XI defeated Anandrathi XI by eight wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Anandrathi XI bowled out for 84 runs in 16.5 over. In reply, JU XI chased the total making 88 runs in 11.2 over for the loss of two wickets. Pankaj Sasan was declared man of the match for his four wickets haul and later highest 42 runs off mere 24 balls. |
