| Natrang stages Dogri play Gatt | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 24
Krishan Chander’s short story “Gatt" was adopted by Balwant Thakur in Dogri and staged here today in the Sunday Theatre at Natrang Studio The story goes like when a person fell into a ditch whose pleas of taking him out are unanswered. With the arrival of various persons like planners, young people like religious leaders, political leaders, cops and foreigners and the person in distress is given different explanation of their inability in rendering help to him. While the unemployed youth had no time, the Sadhu assured that they will pray for " Vishaw Shanti" and give him their blessings. The cop lodges FIR but no one renders a helping hand to the man in the "Gatt". The amusing part is, when a political leader gives long sermons atop the Gatt covered by wooden planks, the mani has no listeners. Every one is busy in self glorification the pleas of man in the ditch fall on deaf ears. This reflects the plight of the ignored common masses who continue to suffer for want of little from the persons in authority or anybody in the society. This impressed the spectators present on the occasion. The artists who took part in the play included: Rohit Verma, Rahul Singh, Gaurav Jamwal , Dimple Sharma, Kamakshi Pattyal, Mohit Sharma and Hemant Bhola.
