Egyptian Dance and Sufi music staged

J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with Ministry of External Affaris Govt of India, ICCR and University of Jammu today organized Sufi Music by Dev Dildar and Al Tannura Traditional Dances by Egyptian Artists at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. His Excellency Lt. Gen SK Sinhs, PVSM, The Governor, Jammu and Kashmir was the Chief Guest and Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad, Hon’ble Chief Minister, Jammu and Kashmir presided while Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi IBS , Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Prof. Amitabh Matoo were also present on the occasion.
Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi IBS while welcoming the Artists distinguished guests said that since last two years in the state and country but our artists visited London, Turkmenistan and china for international Cultural Exchange programmes and this is our endeavour to send our people abroad in next year too. He further said that in near future Jammu and Kashmir will be hosting the artists fro Russia, Iran and Germany through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India and ICCR and as reciprocation it can be possible that J&K folk artists can perform in these countries also Dr. Masoodi informed august gathering that last year the Vultural Troupe from Sri Lanka visited Jammu and Kashmir State to perform their dances of Sri Lanka. During their visit the Academy made it possible to train the artist of Sri Lanka to perform most popular Kashmir folk Bumbroo- Bumbroo and Dogri Fol ‘Pranda’ and fifteen Kashmir costumes and Jewelry along with Dogri Dresses are also presented to them . As per Masoodi, the Co-Ordinator of Sri Lankan troupe Tilak Fernandos informed through e-mail that Sri Lankan artists performed Bumbroo- Bumbroo and Pranda dances along with their won dances in China, Thailand, Singaprore and Koalampur Countries which were highly applauded. He said that today program is part of that series which not only propagates intercultural but inter country tourism Ambassadorship also. While welcoming Dev Dildar the son of the soil and nationally reputed artist Masoodi said that Dev Dildar cancelled his program at Delhi and presenters to perform here today in his home state. During last year visit he performed at Doda folk musical instruments usually accompany the group’s performance like Rababa. Salamin, flute, drums, tambourines and sanjes. These instruments accelerate the dances warm up and enlighten the colorful atmosphere of the state performance. A folk singer who recites religious verses ( InshadDeni) and songs in praise of the Prophed (PBUH) Mohammed.
The senior dance, known as the “ Lafife” or the one going in infinite circles, and the junior dancers the “Hantia” all dance to the rhythmic intonation of the Tambourines. They are not professionally trained but rather inherited this art spontaneously from their fore father’s
His Excellency Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Sh. S K Sinha the Governor and Jenab Ghulam Nabi Azad, Hon’ble Chief Minister congratulated Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi and other organizations for organizing such a wonderful programeme and also appreciated Dev Dialdar and Artist of Al Tunnura Traditional troupe of Egypt for their reinstalling performance. His Excellency also honoured the artists.
