Students of Indira Gandhi Government Dental college, awaiting DCI approval for three batches, are pinning all their hopes on the outcome of the parents meet on Monday where they are expected to review the state government’ response to their demand.
It may be mentioned that BDS students of three batches have launched a stir in support of their demand of earning an approval from the DCI .After holding demonstrations for over one week and suspending OPD services in the Dental hospital the agitating students had worked out a peace deal with the state government as per which they were assured of some favourable development within fifteen days time.
Group of parents of BDS students had also attended a meeting with Principal Secretary Health KB Jandial to further take up the matter with the DCI after Chief Minister gave assurances to the students that their genuine demands would be looked in to appropriately.
The fifteen day deadline is ending on Monday and in the absence of any formal response from the state government the students are sitting with their fingers crossed.
“We were given an assurance by the state health department officials before we suspended our agitation that the state government would take up the issue of approval for three BDS batches with the Dental council of India” .Now the deadline is over and we are feeling nervous as we are not sure of our future, BDS students said hoping to receive a favourable response from the DCI. On the other hand a section of BDS students are of the firm opinion that if this time the state government failed in its attempt to provide them any form of relief they should not believe them and further intensify their agitation to extract their pound of flesh. Some students are already prepared to knock the doors of the High court seeking justice before it is too late for them.
