Jammu | Feb 24

A day after an IAS officer, on her step of the bureaucratic career ladder, got Peoples Democratic Party leader Tarlok Singh Bajwa’s name registered in the records of local Police Station as an offender, the shy Member of Parliament today said that he is being unnecessarily framed in the case which has nothing at all.
The Rajya Sabha MP, Bajwa said today that it was the narrow street which and public fury which came in the way of Sub Divisional Magistrate RS Pura Mandeep Kour’s way and not his vehicle. Demanding stern action against Kour, an IAS officer of 2004 batch, Bajwa said that he did not intend to come in her way even though he maintained that the officer was wrong and biased in her action.
Accusing the officer of arrogance and unbecoming attitude, Bajwa told reporter here, “when I tried to inquire the matter from her, the officer said I am not answerable to you”. How wondered how a civil servant can be so rude to a Rajya Sabha member. He also demanded her suspension and disciplinary action her.
On written complaint of SDM RS Pura, Mandeep Kour before the Divisional Commissioner and IGP Jammu, the local Police had registered an FIR against Bajwa and his supporters on the charges of allegedly restraining the officer from discharging her official duty. Defending himself and his supporters Bajwa said that he had not restrained SDM from discharging her duty.
He said the SDM had committed a contempt of court by demolishing the structure. A stay was already there and the SDM had ordered demolition of the structure terming it illegal, Bajwa said demanding action against her. Defending his action Bajwa said he had not restrained SDM from discharging her duty. As a local leader of the area I immediately rushed to the spot when the news first came in that there was some tension building in the area. Large number of local residents and women where the demolition drive was going on had gathered there and were surrounding the vehicle of the SDM. Police force was also there in large number, Bajwa said explaining that he interacted with the SHO urging him to defuse the tension by talking to local people. He said I even informed SDM about it but she responded by saying that she is not answerable to me. Bajwa said as a Rajya Sabha I cannot expect such a treatment and that too from a senior government official.Responding to the allegations he said i have not blocked her way. The street was very narrow and some people had parked their vehicles in the middle not allowing enough space for SDM's vehicle to move ahead, he clarified.
