Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 26 Defending champion, district Srinagar today made a winning start in the three-day State Ball Badminton Championship organized by the Jammu and Kashmir Ball Badminton Association at Green Field ground, here. In today first round matches, district Srinagar defeated district Ganderbal in straight sets. In the girls’ category, Srinagar trounced Baramulla 3-0. The championship, wherein nine districts are taking part, was declared open by the Association president, Harpal Singh this morning. “The participating districts in boys section are Jammu, Srinagar, Baramula, Budgam, Anantnag, Kathua, Kupwara, Rajouri and Pulwama. In girls section four districts of Ganderbal, Srinagar, Baramulla and Budgam have already reported while team from Jammu district is expected to report tomorrow,” said treasurer of the Association, G S Bakshi. The results: BOYS: Baramulla bt Kathua 2-1; Srinagar bt Ganderbal 3-0; Anantnag bt Badgam 3-0 and Rajouri bt Kupwara 3-0. GIRLS: Srinagar bt Baramula 3-0; Ganderbal bt Kupwara 3-0. |
