| Does Mufti’s ghost participate in cabinet meeting? | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 27 Does Mufti’s ghost participate in cabinet meeting? This question is being discussed in political circles after yesterday’s cabinet meeting saw a couple of ministers belonging to the PDP consulting Mufti Mohd Sayeed on telephone to seek his nod for transfer of various officials. These PDP ministers got in touch with their party patron; even when the cabinet meeting was on to seek his consent over the choice of officers who were to be transferred from one department to the other. The telephonic contact with the Mufti had become necessary when the PDP ministers disagreed on the proposals on the transfer which had been made available to them during the cabinet meeting. These PDP ministers wanted to ensure that the stand they took on each transfer was in tune with that of their party patron. Inside report said that the PDP ministers had become wise after the September 2006 episode when Muzaffar Hussain Baig, the then deputy chief minister had not opposed transfer of a particular officer in a cabinet meeting which had earned the wrath of PDP leadership resulting in his recall from the cabinet. These reports said that the congress was in favour of posting K Rajendra as IG Kashmir the post he had held previously, but the PDP ministers opposed it. In order to ascertain the whims of the Mufti on the matter the PDP ministers got in touch with the party patron during the cabinet meeting. |
