| JDU deputation meets Governor | | Demand white paper on assets of Ministers, MLAs | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 27 Decrying the present dispensation for rampant corruption, Janta Dal United (JDU) has demanded a white paper on properties of Ministers and MLAs comparing the present value of their assets with that of prior to 2002 so that the real picture could come to fore for the people to decide for the future of the state in coming elections. Presenting a memorandum to Governor S.K.Sinha here on Wednesday, a JDUdeputation led by its President S. Inder Mohinder Tar Singh urged upon him to intervene into the matter and prevent the unscrupulous elements from contesting ensuing elections for the sake of the people of state. " A white paper regarding the properties of Ministers and MLAs matching their present assets with that of 2002 should issued so that the people of state could draw a conclusion and decide accordingly," Singh added. The deputationists further said that the corruption in the state had crossed all the limits and the need of the hour is to purge the system completely of this menace, which has eaten up the vitals of the society. They brought into his notice the alleged back door appointments in SKUAST since 2004 at the behest of some leaders of coalition parties. " More than 347 backdoor appointments have taken place in University which has virtually frustrated the deserving and meritorious candidates and to cover the misdeed, the University authorities are trying very hard to befool the people," they said. They further said that forty admissions were made in NRI category in respect of BV.Sc for the session 2006-7 against the total of six seats advertised for the purpose and that too amongst the candidates having less that sixty percent marks. Even the candidates not falling under NRI quota have been admitted to the faculty for monitory considerations, they alleged. The deputation comprised of S.P. Mangotra, Rajinder Sharma, Avinash Sharma, V.K. Prashar and others. |
