| VO presents challan against three government officials | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 27 State Vigilance Organization today presented two challans against three government officials in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu in trap cases. On a complaint lodged by son of a retired inspector that Raskesh Kumar Mehra cashier of ETO Jammu-Kathua Range demanded bribe for releasing the pre-retirement dues in favour of his father Baldev Raj, the SVO organization registered a case and a team laid a trap in the office of ETO Jammu-Kathua Range at Kathua and caught red-handed the cashier and recovered Rs 10000 from his custody. It is worthwhile to mention here that complainant initially approached Krishan Chand Accountant who advised the complaint to meet the accused cashier. Accordingly complainant approached cashier Rakesh Kumar Mehra who paid to complainant only Rs 4, 74131 against Rs 4, 84, 131 arrears dues to the father of the complainant and retained an agreed bribed amount of Rs 10,000. On this, the cashier approached the accountant Krishan Chand, who advised cashier to make full payment of Rs 4, 84, 131 to the complainant as the bribe amount of Rs 10,000 would be paid to him by the complainant separately. On this cashier paid balance amount of Rs 10,000 retained by him and the complainant thereafter paid the bribe amount Rs 10,000 to the cashier who accepted it in presence of accused accountant and kept the same in drawer of his office table. In the meanwhile shadow witness gave a signal, on receiving the signal the members of the trap team rushed to the spot and tainted amount of Rs 10,000 was recovered from the drawer of office table of accused cashier Rakesh Kumar Mehra. During the course of the investigation prima-facie established that as a part of conspiracy hatched by the accused accountant and cashier an amount of Rs 10,000 was accepted by the cashier on the demand made by both the accused. The investigation further found that accused accountant had taken active part in the criminal act which culminated in conspiracy. Both the accused being public servants have been found liable for commission of offence punishable u/s 5(1) (d) r/w sections 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 and 120-B RPC and section 161 Cr PC. After completion of the investigation VOJ today presented challan in the court of law for judicial determination. In another trap case VOJ presented challan against Mohd Razaaq then Patwari Halqa Chinore Jammu and Kaki Ram then Chowkidar in the court of special Judge Anticorruption Jammu. The VOJ on a witten complaint lodged on April 9, 2007 by Rattan Lal Koul r/o Lakshmi Puram Chinore Jammu registered a case against the Patwari and his peon for demanding and accepting illegal gratification of Rs.1000 as mutation fee for a piece of land . The VO constituted a trap team which laid a successful trap and caught red handed the accused patwari Mohd Razak and his peon Kaki Ram while accepting the bribe money which was recovered from their possession in presence of independent witnesses. On completion of the investigation challan was presented today against Patwari and Chowkidar u/s 5(1) (d) r/w sections 5(2) J&K PC Act 2006 and 120-B RPC and section 109 RPC, 161 Cr PC. JNF |
