Ladakhi players accorded warm reception at Leh, Kagil
‘Twin districts bagged 14 medals in Winter Games at Gulmarg

Ladakh Winter Sports Club today organized a grant reception to the Ladakhi players who arrived here today after winning 14 medals in different events in 5th National Winter Games at Gulmarg. The CEC LAHDC Chhering Dorje was the chief guest on the occasion.
Welcoming the players Dorje said that it is a pride moment for the entire Ladakh that our players not only earned name for the entire state but also fetched fame for the Ladakh in winter games. He said despite lack of infrastructure, facilities and incentives for winter games, the players with active support of LWSC have tremendously promoted winter games in Ladakh.
Regretting delay in creating an Ice Hockey stadium in the district, the CEC said though funds are available with the Council for the purpose but due to some difficulties in the architectural plan it has been delayed. However, he assured that the Council would create a full fledged stadium for winter games in the district.
Executive Councilor Education Tsering Norboo Lampa said that LAHDC is making every effort to create infrastructure for winter games at block levels and construction of some Ice Hockey rinks in rural areas have been completed while work on some others is going on.
President of the Sports Club P. Wangchok in his welcome address gave a detailed account of the performance of the Ladakhi players in the just concluded 5th National Winter Games.
A similar function was held at Kargil where the LAHDC Kargil and Kargil Ice and Now Sports Club accorded a grant reception to the players of Kargil district who participated in the winter games at Gulmarg.
The players from Kargil bagged four medals including one silver and three bronze. Tsering Dolkar of Fokar bagged silver medal in figure skating while Marjuma Khatun of Samra Chiktan won three bronze medals in speed skating.
The Club has expressed its gratitude to the Youth and Sports Minister Haji Nissar Ali and CEC Asgar Karbalai for their efforts to ensure participation of Kargil team in the National sports festival.
