| Khandey returns to role cut for him | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 27 One of the most promising officers Jammu and Kashmir has ever produced, Mohammad Iqbal Khandey is back at a role of significance. The state cabinet which met here last evening approved the appointment of Khandey as Principal Secretary Planning and Development –one of the key departments in the civil administration. Earlier, Khandey was Chairman Bureau of Public Enterprise and there was a wide feeling that an officer like Khandey should be positioned at a post where the best of his capabilities can be utilized. Khandey is regarded as one of the most steadfast and honest officers, a quality for which he had to suffer for a long. For his uncompromising principles, Khandey hardly got significant posting during the National Conference regime. However, it was his well tested honesty and integrity that on becoming Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed handpicked him for the post of his Principal Secretary. Mufti's aides still recall the efficiency with which Khandey ran the office of Chief Minister amidst most daunting challenges of the times. Later was moved to the department of Planning and Development as Principal Secretary –a post which he held till 2006. Lest year he was appointed as Chairman, Bureau of Public Enterprise. His return to the Planning and Development Department in last evening's cabinet decision marks Khandey's renewed role at the top echelons of administration. |
