| Ex-servicemen call on Charak | | | Early Times Reporter

A deputation of veteran ex-servicemen led by Maj Gen (Retd) G S Jamwal, today called on the Minister for Higher Education Gulchain Singh Charak and submitted a memorandum listing long pending demands of the ex-servicemen
The memorandum was very critical about working of the cabinet sub committee constituted by the Chief Minister some four months back to recommend various relieves and other facilities granted to all other ex-servicemen in the country. The deputationists regretted that some aged ex-servicemen and widows have even died before receiving the expected benefits.
The ex-servicemen sought to know from the Minister as to why they are being ignored and treated step motherly since they are as much as State Subjects as any one else. The memorandum accused the CM and the State Cabinet for dogging the issue of ex-servicemen who are asking nothing more than what the neighbouring states are getting.
According to a League handout the Minister is reported to assured the deputationist that he would take up the issue with the Chief Minister and get Cabinet to consider their recommendations in the very next meeting.
