| Extensions rampant, CM's Special Secretary gets another year | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 28 Contrary to its public commitments, the government is continuing with the practice of granting extension in the services of its favourite officers. In the latest case, the Government has accorded sanction to re-employment of Mr. Ajaz Ahmad Kakroo, Special Secretary to the Chief Minister for a period of one year with effect from 01.03.2008 i.e. beyond the date of his superannuation. Recently, the government has accorded sanction to extension in services of Aziz Ahmed Wani as Managing Director of the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Development Corporation. Wani is considered as a blue eyed of the Peoples Democratic Party. It may be recalled here that when the coalition government had taken over, this was among the first major commitments that the new government will not extend services of the officers who are approaching retirement. However, within two months the government started giving extension to the services of its favourites. The extension culture was rampant during the National Conference regime and the coalition had made a commitment with the public to end this practice. In fact extension in services of all those officers were terminated who were re-employed during the National Conference regime. It is pertinent to mention here that re-employment of the officer shall be terminable with one month's notice from either side and during the period of re-employment, the pay of the officer shall be fixed in terms of Article 259-A of Jammu and Kashmir CSRS. |
