| NC declares elections, promises moon | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 28 Sounding the poll alarm, the opposition National Conference, at the end of its three day central working committee meeting, has painted a gloomy picture of the coalition government. The three day Working Committee meeting concluded here today with the passage of a political and economic resolution. The resolutions underlined the resolve of the National Conference to undertake activities on political and economic activities and the text looked like an election manifesto. National Conference president Omar Abdullah said that if voted to power, his party will create enormous avenues of employment and will undertake concerted measures for economic development of the state. He accused the coalition government of failure on all fronts, particularly on economic scenario. Big projects are announced and allotted without adhering to codal formalities and without adequate resources with the result payments for work done are getting inordinately deferred at the Treasuries where bills and claims worth more than Rs.530 crores are pending, and consequently the implementation of works is slowing down. Prices of essential commodities have skyrocketed because the monitoring mechanism has broken down completely and the enforcement machinery is in a shambles", said the NC resolution. Huge sums of money are supposedly being pumped into the economy in the shape of packages and programmes of the Central Government, but these funds have remained only promises because they are not being utilized as admitted by the Coalition Government itself, since the delivery system is missing and the Civil service is alienated. The National Conference expresses anguish at the total disregard shown by the present government for the problems of the unemployed youth, whose frustration today knows no bounds. The National Conference resolves that it shall, when it comes to power provide visible thrust to people friendly scheme and programmes and to the core sectors of the economy like Horticulture, Agriculture, Industry and Handicrafts which have tremendous potential for employment generation, said the resolution. The National Conference Government will not run the State like a factory in double and triple shifts, but shall give impetus to the forces of development and growth by imaginatively and efficiently operationalising the Single Line System of administration which was the brainchild of Sheikh Mohd Abdullah. It shall formulate and implement innovative programmes for the unemployed youth of the State with a view to providing them social security and skills that shall enable them to take up private enterprise and get adjusted in the private sectors, opportunities for which shall be identified/ facilitated by the government .It shall ensure that the three regions of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir shall develop equally according to their unique potential and with the participation of the representatives of each region in Plan formulation. |
