| Educational tour returns | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 29 A bus carrying 30 elders of Reasi and Rajouri districts was flagged in by Major General PC Panjikar, General Officer Commanding Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) today at Reasi after an eventful, educative and memorable 15 days tour to Ambala, Shimla, Chandigarh, Dehradun and Amritsar. The tour was undertaken as part of Operation Sadbhavana by Mahore Sector. The elders/Maulvies had left Reasi on 15 February 2008. The purpose of the tour was to give the elders/Maulvies an insight into the rich and varied heritage of India. The tour brought about a great dealt of awareness amongst the elders/Maulvies, about the cultural, regional and religious diversity alongside the unique harmony that binds this great Nation. During the tour the elders/Maulvies visited Indian Military Academy at Dehradun, Golden Temple, Jalian Wala Baagh and Wagah Border at Amritsar besides meeting a number of senior Army and civil dignitaries. Welcoming the elders, Major General PC Panjikar said the elders/Maulvies were fortunate to be exposed to the cultural diversity and heritage of India during this tour. He wanted them to spread the message of peace and harmony in their areas. The elders/Maulvies while interacting with the General expressed their gratitude for the educative and enlightening tour. The civil dignitaries present on the occasion expressed their gratitude to the Army for providing such a wonderful opportunity to elderly people of Reasi and Rajouri District. |
