| VOJ presents challan against then foreman SRTC | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Feb 29 In an interesting case where the Vigilance Organization after about seven years investigation of misappropriation of Rs 1.27 lakh, has presented final report for closing the case as not proved before the Court Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, who disagreed with the closure report and ordered for further investigation on January 19, 2005. On the basis order passed by the Court, the VOJ started further investigation and found that accused Suraj Parkash, the then foreman/ mechanic SRTC had misappropriated Rs 1.27 lakh as fee deposited by the vehicle owners whose vehicles were involved in the accident for mechanical check-up during the period 1996 to 1998 and today presented challan against the accused in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu u/s 5(2) PC Act 2006 r/w section 409 RPC. During the course of investigation of FIR No 72/98, the VO found different officials of SRTC Jammu involved in misappropriation of fee being collected on account of mechanical inspection report for the vehicles involved in the accident. Thus in order to avoid the mis- joinder of the accused, separate cases were registered in the VOJ against different officers of SRTC Jammu and the case FIR 72/98 (a mother case) is also one of them registered against Suraj Parkash the then Foreman/ Mechanic presently Inspector SRTC Jammu.
