Jammu | Feb 29
Almost all the 16 public sector undertakings in the State are faced with one after another problem causing great inconvenience to the work force. Despite tall claims of having streamlined the working of these corporations, the ground realities are all together different.
After the State Road Corporation, the JK Minerals is also facing grave financial crisis so much so the labourers working in the coal mines at Kalakote and Banihal are without their wages for the last nine months.
A senior functionary told the Early Times Reporter that due to the continuous strike by the workers, extraction of coal has come down heavily, as a result of which it has become difficult to manage the huge expenditure on various accounts including the wages. However, he hoped, the situation would soon improve and all the pending wages of the labourers would be released.
On the other hand the workers maintained that they have been working round the clock and still they are not paid their wages for the reasons best known to the authorities.
