| Don’t force us to enact Rajasthan in J&K: Gujjar Bakerwal Conference | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 1 Neglected by successive state governments, the Gujjar Bakerwal community in Jammu and Kashmir has once again warned Congress led coalition government to do justice with their demands lest they would be forced to reenact Rajasthan like campaign to grab political reservation, besides several other benefits. Representatives of Gujjar Bakerwal Conference led by its district President Amir-ul-Din Kasana today handed over 9 point memorandum to the State Chief Minister through Deputy Commissioner. The community leaders accompanied by large Gujjar Bakerwal people also staged dharna in front of the office of the DC in Jammu. In their memorandum, the Gujjar leaders have once again raised the issue of granting political reservation to the Gujjars in the state and appealed to the Chief Minister to cancel SRO 294 and not to disturb SRO 126; the Gujjar leaders urged demanding rehabilitation of landless Gujjar Bakerwal community. Through their memorandum the Gujjar leaders also apprised the state government that they are not getting any benefits of the historic Roshni scheme announced by Congress led government in the state. They also demanded that recruitment should be made for Gujjar Bakerwal battalion in police department and educational qualification should also be relaxed. Gujjar leaders also demanded reservation in Anganwari, besides, Rehbar-e-Taleem and Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan. Highlighting problems of student community, the Gujjar leaders said that the Gujjar Bakerwal hostels should be run on the pattern of model schools and in Jammu enrollment of students should be enhanced from 100 to 500. |
