| Malik resigns from PDP | | Says was feeling suffocated, ignored in party | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | March 2
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Sunday received a severe jolt as party's strong contender for Drahal Constituency Iqbal Malik resigned from its basic membership declaring that " I feel suffocated and ignored' for being shouldered aside 'by a coterie of inexperienced leaders' who has been imposing its decisions ignoring the senior lot. Iqbal Malik, a retired Special Secretary had joined the party in 2004 earlier. The exit of Malik is being largely viewed as the out come of the discontent with the party that has accumulated over the years among the Jammu based party leaders for being ignored for Upper House membership and important posts within the party. In present case also the out going party leader was feeling insecure as sensing a threat to his claim for the party ticket during coming Assembly election from the rivals within the party. Addressing a press Conference here today, Malik said that he had joined PDP considering it a liberal party, working for peace adding that soon "I feel suffocated and ignored as with the elections coming near, the style of open functioning of the party underwent a sea change as the suggestions coming from his people were not being implemented on the ground. Talking to KMT he said that the main reason behind leaving the party was that some people have taken over the reins of the party and not allowing the aspiration of people of Dharal to materialize. He also admitted that the Jammu leadership has always been pushed to the wall, denying it the opportunity to groom up. He however did not divulged any thing about his plans
