Jugal inaugurates, lays foundation of Rs.2.50 cr causeways

Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr. Jugal Kishore Sharma while addressing a public meeting at Kugga Mera Mandrian in Akhnoor constituency has said that Congress led governments at the state and centre were making historical decisions for the welfare of the people. He said large scale financial support to J&K has galvanized state's socio-economic scenario and helped to give fillip to all round development.
Referring to the Union Budget 2008-09 presented in the Parliament. Mr. Jugal Kishore said that it has taken care of all sections, he said that 60,000 crore have been provided for waiving the loans of small and marginal farmers besides initiation of numerous pro-people measures.
The Minister said that work on construction of 25 km road from Reasi to Akhnoor would be started very soon at an estimated cost of Rs.17 crore. He also said that 5 roads of 20.30 km length were in progress in Akhnoor constituency at an estimated cost of Rs. 15 crore under NABARD. Rs.3.56 crore have been spent on these so far the Minister said that with the completion of these roads 20000 population of Akhnoor constituency would be benefited.
Addressing the meeting Member Parliament Mr. Madan Lal Sharma said that the centre government was providing massive funding to every sector for development. Recently the centre government has approved 370 crore projects under PMGSY Phase-2nd for the state. He said that under PMRP the state has also received large allocation for infrastructure development. He asked the people to make full use of the developmental programme going on in the state and sought their cooperation to make J&K a model state. He said that work on construction of 6 lift irrigation schemes would be started in March this year. He said that Rs. 10 crore would be spent on these irrigation schemes which included Ambaran Lift Irrigation Scheme, Paiyan Lift Irrigation Scheme, Kah Lift Irrigation Scheme, Aryanpura Lift Irrigation Scheme and Miyari Lift Irrigation Scheme. Mr. Madan Lal said that 2500 acres of land would be irrigated with these schemes.
Earlier, the Minister for R&B laid foundation of 360 mts causeway at Kugga at an estimated cost of Rs 2.50 crore and Rs.75 lakh causeway 175 mts on Mera Mandrian road. He inaugurated 125 mts causeway at an cost of Rs.25 lakhs. The Minister was told that at a total cost of Rs. 415.84 lakh 800 mtr span road under construction would be completed in 2009.
In his address MLA Akhnoor Mr. Sham Lal Sharma said that massive development has been registered in Akhnoor block during the last 5 years in various sectors. He said road connectivity, education, health and rural development sectors have received focused attention of the government and people can feel the difference on ground. He lauded the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad for ensuring all round development irrespective of any region and areas.
MLC Mr. Lal Mohammad Sabir and other local leaders also addressed the gathering.
Chief Engineer PMGSY Mr. Shafi Mir, Superintending Engineers R&B and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
