Calling upon the people of Bishnah to get ready for Assembly elections, Jammu State Morcha, MLA, Ashwani Sharma, has asked the party activists to a launch a mass contact program to apprise the people about the development works carried out in the constituency during the last five and a half years. Addressing a rally at Bishnah today, he said that he would contest the ensuing election from Bishnah constituency on the name of development adding that the common man has been benefited from these development works. Charging the government of discriminating Jammu region, he said nothing has been done to increase the Assembly seats, constitution of Delimitation Commission and redressing the problems of the West Pakistan and PoK refugees. Highlighting the development works taken up in the constituency during the past five and a half years, Sharma said that work on widening of Bishnah- Bari Brahamana road has been taken up at a cost of Rs.6.25 crore, while Bishnah-Arina road via Slair is being double lined at a cost of Rs.3.46 crore. Similarly, Treva-Kathar border road has been taken up under CRF at a cost of Rs.5.70 crore and proposal for widening of Bishnah-Kunjwani road has already been submitted for approval. He said, a grid station, involving a cost of Rs.100 crore is under construction in Bishnah whereas a receiving station at Chak Hashal and hundreds of new transformers have been installed in the constituency. In education sector, a Degree College has been sanctioned for Bishnah and several other high, middle and primary schools have been upgraded. An ambitious Rs.125 crore irrigation project has also been got sanctioned under the command area, he added.
