| Militant, 5 OGWS apprehended | | | Early Times Reporter

On specific information that a consignment of arms and ammunition was being transported from valley to Doda, a special naka was laid by Doda police in the outskirts of Doda town. During naka checking, one fabricated TATA Sumi bearing no.0087-JK14A on way from Qazi Gund Kulgam to Doda was intercepted by the police party. On checking of the vehicle 02.AK rifles, 01 AK magazine and 30 rounds were from the possession of 05 OGWs of militants traveling in the vehicle. They have been indented as Ab Kabir s/o Gh. Mohd. Lone Rafiqa Begum w/o Ab Kabir, Mohd. Hanief s/o Gh. Mohd. Lone, all residents of Hasti Tregam Kishtwar, Mohd. Amin s/o Ahad Dar, Rubeena Begum w/o Mohd. Yousuf, both residents of Bergam Qazi Gund Kulgam who were apprehended on spot. During interrogation OGWs revealed that they received the arms assignment from LeT militants at Khullar Sopore and transported the same to Doda for its delivery to LeT divisional commander namely Shabir Itoo Abu Yasir presently operating Gundna, Bharat area of Doda. They admitted that the consignment of arms ammunition was to be delivered to LeT commander through one Zakir Hussain s/o Ab Jabar R/o Manthori. Said Zakir Hussain was an active militant arrested in 2001 and release on bail and late on recycled into militancy. At the instance of the above named OGWs further admitted that they had fabricated TATA sumo for concealing the arms and ammunition and cash consignment of cash and arms and ammunition from the valley and handed over the same to militants LeT outfit in Doda area. The OGW namely Ab Kabir admitted that about 2 months back, he brought a cash consignment of Rs. 02.00 lacs from valley and delivered the same to Abu Yasir Div. commander of LeT and Mohd. Iqbal, Ops commander of LeT through one OGW namely Ab Latief Parray S/o Ab Gani Parray r/o Gundna. They were being put to sustained questioning to know about their other activities and associates. A joint operation of Doda police and 100 RR and 8 RB was launched in different areas of Doda and some more arrests of OGWs and militants are likely to take place shortly.
