| JU to establish satellite center at Patnitop | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 3 IN an attempt to open campuses in remote areas of the region, Jammu University is establishing a satellite center at Patnitop. Vice Chancellor, Jammu University, Amitabh Mattoo visited various places at Patnitop to identify land. Mattoo was accompanied by a team of officers from University of Jammu including Prof. Ashok Aima, Project Director Udhampur Campus, Prof. VK Kapoor, Director Law School, Dr Duad Iqbal Dy Coordinator Campuses. Addressing the officers of JU in a meeting during late hours yesterday, Mattoo said that the satellite center would prove beneficial for the people of area considering its tourist potential. "After establishing Campuses at Bhaderwah, Kathua, Udhampur, and Poonch, the University of Jammu is opening its satellite centre at Patnitop and the center at tourist spot like this would benefit the people of the area especially nomads in a big way," he added. Mattoo on the occasion informed that University of Jammu is also contemplating to construct a conference hall at Patnitop which would on the one hand ease out the pressure of day to day national and international conference at main campus and on the other hand promote tourism in the area. Vice Chancellor said that final decision for acquiring the land for the satellite centre will be taken after the visit of JU’s engineering wing and department of Geology. "Experts from Geolgy and engineering wing will soon visit the area and final decision for acquiring land will be taken after their report on various aspects of the land and topography of the area," Mattoo said. |
