| SRTC employees decide to plead before Governor | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 3 Unhappy with the rigid stand taken by the state government the striking employees of the State Road Transport Corporation on Monday decided to plead their case in front of the state Governor to find a plausible solution to their long pending demands. The decision was taken by the agitating employees here today after they failed to break the deadlock even as their strike entered day 14. “We have decided to hold protest demonstrations in front of Raj Bhawan in both Jammu and Srinaagr cities to apprise the state governor of the kind of hardships our families are facing in the absence of release of salaries for last five months, chairman of the J&K SRTC Employees Union Shakeel Ahmed Kochey said. Accusing the state government of adopting rigid approach towards their long pending demands employees leader said the state government is not showing enough flexibility while holding dialogue with the employees leadership. The state government is treating us like a bonded labor by not releasing our salaries and putting pressure on us to call off our strike before releasing our salaries. He said we are always ready to hold parleys with the state government but it is the duty of the state government to ensure that interests of the employees are taken care of. Giving details of the protest demonstration son March 5, Lochey said we have requested all our employees to bring their children and family members to participate in the peaceful protest in order to tell story of neglect .It may be mentioned that SRTC employees are on strike since Feb 19 and various rounds o talks with t he senior officials representing the state government have failed to break the ice. |
