| Yes, Javed Mustafa again! | | Minister’s gun goes off at airport | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 3 Peoples Democratic Party’s Javed Mustafa Mir –a Minister of State –would create at least one scene that he would be remembered for the year without being heard or seen around. Today it was the turn of Jammu airport. Panic struck Jammu airport on Monday afternoon as licensed weapon of state rural development Minister Javid Mustafa Mir went off accidentally during the security check minutes before the departure of Jammu-Mumbai flight. No one was injured in the firing incident, official sources said. A high level probe has been ordered by the airports authority of India as to how the firing incident took place in the high security zone. Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad had arrived from Srinagar on a Kingfisher flight minutes before the accidental firing incident was reported. According to official sources at the Jammu airport Minister of State Javid Mustafa Mir arrived at the airport in his official vehicle and when he proceeded towards the security check security personnel detected pistol in his luggage. Public relations officer escorting the Minister immediately swung in to action and informed the security officers that Minister was in the habit of carrying personal licensed weapon along with him. While the airport staff was readying the special case to keep the pistol PRO triggered the weapon and the bullet went off accidentally, eyewitnesses said. Security officials present at the airport however remained tight lipped and hesitated to term it a security breach." It is not a security breach but a fit case of accidental fire" official sources said denying reports that ministers luggage was not subjected to scanning. We could detect the gun in minister’s luggage so it should not be termed as security breach, such incidents do take place and they are accidental in nature, security officials said. |
