Pakistani forces fire mortar shells in Uri, Karnah sector

BARAMULLA, Aug 18: Panic gripped north Kashmir border villages as some mortar shells were fired by Pakistani forces into Thajal-Churunda area of Uri sector last evening.
A top police official said that some mortar shells were fired by Pakistani forces into Thajal-Chranda area of Uri.
The police official said that one shell hit the washroom belonging to one Mohammad Hussain S/O Noor Mohammad R/O Thajal, causing some damage to it.
However there was no loss of life reported, said police official.
Meanwhile sources said that, our demands were never fulfilled by the previous governments as from past several years we have been demanding construction of bunkers in the border villages that are living close to the LoC in Uri sector of Baramulla district.
"Thajal-Churunda and other villages are very close to the Line of Control (LoC), we face the burnt when the armies exchanges fire from both the side, said local residents of Uri.
Two civilians were injured after the armies of India and Pakistan traded fire along the Line of Control (LoC) last night in Karnah area of Kupwara district.
Station House Officer, Nasir Ahmad told early times that two civilians sustained minor injuries after there was cross border shelling.
The two local residents who happened to be brother received minor injuries after piece of rock hit the duo, said SHO Karnah.
The duo were identified as Jahangir Ahmad and Zameer Ahmad, both were shifted to a hospital for treatment that are stable now.
Sources from this border area said that, there was shelling from other side of LoC in Hajitra village of Karnah Thesil.
Border villages of this north Kashmir district continue to live in fear, as guns roar along the LoC in Sadpora and Toli Shamsbaru side, adding if bunkers will be constructed near LoC, people will take a sigh of relief, said sources.
