Are We Really Free and Independent?
Priyanka Gupta8/18/2018 11:01:34 PM
The question bothers me a lot and especially in the month of August, when the markets are flooded with tricolors and television, radio and media is unfurling freedom stories. But do we actually live in a liberated society? Are we really free? Are we really independent? No we are not. We all are actually embedded in a prison. We all are caught in the web of questions, numberless enquiries. I am talking of women. I am talking of myself. I am talking of every girl who is just coming to this world and so called 'civilized society'. The patriarchy is inbuilt and is innately present in our society. We are liberated and we are living in a civilized society where the kindergarten children (girl) are harassed and tried to molest. And the society didn't talk about this menace. Yes we are liberated where the girls are raped like Asifa and many unnamed girls. After celebrating seventy years of independence we are feeling very much proud in becoming Indian and celebrating independence. But immediately after that, the news of rape and other molestation came into limelight. Can you just name one day and one news channel which are not showing any news of rape and molestation in any part of the country or world? No, not, actually this is next to impossible because either the educated or the uneducated folk of the society are in news because of this offence and menace that is prevailing in our society. Also there are many veiled stories which remain hidden because of the fear of the shame and dishonor of the family. So it is not only for 15th August that we celebrated happiness and freedom. But the autonomy of women is with the independence of the society and of the male psychology which needs to reform and change so that we can live in actually free state and country where women are safe, free and liberated. Remember if women are free then the society in real meaning has achieved its freedom, sovereignty and independence. That day would be glorious for the history of India. The real glory of the state and the country would definitely and undoubtedly the Independence Day for the country.
