BJP leadership is critical of Sidhu's role in Pakistan
8/20/2018 11:16:25 PM
Was Navjot Sidhu represented the Congress while attending the oath ceremony of Imran Khan? Possibility not because he has been invited by Imran Khan as a cricketer. Hence as a former cricketer if he hugged the Pak Army Chief General Qamar Javed he is not responsible for playing politics. The BJP is quite critical of Sidhu who hugged Pak Army Chief, Gen. Javed Bajwa. In fact the BJP should have given credit to Pakistan authorities for seating Sidhu in the front row along with Pakistan Occupied Kashmir President Masood Khan. Though four former cricketeers, Wasim Akram, Javed MIandad, Moin Khan and Aaqib Javed were invited but none was seated in the front row. This an honour to a former cricketer from India. Yes Gen Javed Bajwa has committed various crimes in Kashmir but that does not deny the right of Sidhu to hug him.
Navjot Singh Sidhu's "behaviour" at the oath-taking ceremony of Imran Khan in Islamabad has earned him a sharp rebuke from the BJP, with his former party berating him for "hugging" Pakistan army chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa - a "culprit of India" - and sitting next to "so-called" president of Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir (PoK) Masood Khan. Sidhu should not have hugged Bajwa and should have refused to sit with Khan. By doing so, he has committed a heinous crime for which he is answerable to 125 crore people of India. The BJP leadership is trying to corner Congress and Sidhu. "He (Sidhu) said General Bajwa Sahib hugged me and said we want peace," Patra said, adding it was clear that Congress leaders believed the Pakistan army chief more than they believed their own Army Chief from whom they had demanded proof of surgical strikes and "insulted" him.
"And what was he (Sidhu) thanking Pakistan for? For sending terrorists to India?" said Patra, asking Congress president Rahul Gandhi to suspend him from the party.
The BJP asked Gandhi whether it was he who had granted permission to Sidhu to attend the swearing-in of Imran Khan. In India Sidhu has a different couplets to recite in which he continues to berate Pakistan. But once he has gone across the border he has different couplets to praise Pakistan and its leadership including the Army. Sidhu should have thought for a moment whether to occupy seat close to Pakistan Occupied President. He should have thought of the repercussion of feeling doubly happy over his hug with Pak Army Chief. It is yet to be ascertained whether Gen. Javed Bajwa hugged him or Sidhu made the first beginning. In fact Sidhu was overwhelmed by the occasion and his erstwhile friend Imran Khan to take over as Prime Minister of Pakistan. Does also sidhu harbor these wishes?
