JMC holds meeting for removal of illegal encroachments

Jammu, Aug 21: A meeting of Jammu Municipal Corporation was held today with market representatives to remove illegal encroachments.
The meeting was held under the chairpersonship of Sunaina Sharma (KAS), Secretary, Jammu Municipal Corporation in compliance to the Hon'ble High Court directions in the WPPIL No. 27/2017 titled Court on its own Motion v/s State & Ors. regarding removal of illegal encroachments in the Jammu City.
During the course of meeting, it was decided that drains will be covered with iron gratings with M.s. sheets. The Executive Engineer, Division-II, PWD (R&B), Jammu assured the committee members that the department will share all the codal formalities and yellow line will be drawn in the specified area within the JMC limits to restrict the shopkeepers from encroaching upon the roads.
The Executive Engineer, Electric (M&RE) Division-I, PDD, Jammu informed that erection of ST/PCC Poles is done by way of keeping in mind the various technical points as required for laying of HT/LT Conductors on the said poles having proper span length and proper clearance from existing structure. Divisional Engineer Phones, BSNL, Jammu assured the committee that BSNL undertake to shift existing BSNL infrastructure (poles/cables) whereas it is causing obstructions to the point/places for removing encroachments from the areas within the JMC limits.
The Presidents of different Bazar Associations assured the JMC authorities and committee members for their full support for removal of illegal encroachments and illegal cements tharas/slabs over the drains and also assured the JMC authorities that in future no such type of encroachments shall be done.
