JAMMU, AUGUST 26 - While complimenting people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh for defeating fundamentalist, communal, regionally biased and divisive elements, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad today said that Jammu and Kashmir is re-emerging as one of the brightest and ideal states of the country which has explicitly demonstrated its belief in secularism and unity. Chief Minister was speaking after inaugurating Jashan-e-Jammu function here today. The function was organized by Jashan-e-Jammu Council. On arrival at the venue of the function, thousands of people greeted Mr. Azad by showering flower petals and profusely garlanded him amidst thundering cheers. National Panthers Party President and MLC Prof. Bhim Singh was the special guest. Transport Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister of State for R&B Gulchain Singh Charak, MP Madan Lal Sharma, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation Manmohan Singh, Convener Jashan-e-Jammu Council and MLA Harshdev Singh, Rishi Kumar Koushal, legislators, corporators, senior officers, political leaders, intellectuals, academician and a large number of people attended the function. Azad said that while considering the report of Wazir Commission which was pending for decades, a conscious decision was taken to create four districts each in Jammu division and Kashmir valley. He said that the people of Kashmir as well as Jammu are more than jubilant that government announced more than their expectations. However, he expressed his surprise on those sadistic forces which are not happy that Jammu got four districts but are sad that why Kashmir also got same number of districts. He said such thinking is against our high traditions and wide vision. Chief Minister said that these communal, fundamentalist and sadistic elements, whether from Jammu, Kashmir or Ladakh, should realize that people have rejected for ever the poisonous, biased and ill-ideologies which believe in hatred and they have no scope of survival in the present configuration of people’s positive thoughts. Azad complimented Mr. Rishi Kumar Koushal for launching struggle for creation of Reasi district. He said that one should understand heights of our secular vision that in so many districts where majority of people were Muslims, their Hindu brethren represented their cause. Chief Minister announced that new districts, sub-divisions and tehsils will start functioning from first day of the next financial year and their deputy commissioners and other staff will be posted before ending March. Mr. Azad also said that Finance Commission will be set up within 10 days while as Delimitation Committee for demarcating boundaries of new districts has already started functioning. |
