| Shivratri ‘Shobha Yatra’ taken out in Jammu | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 5 Thousands of people including large number of women and children took out a massive Maha Shivratri ‘Shobha Yatra’ in the old city here today. The devotees, chanting bhajans and religious slogans in the praise of Lord Shiva with great enthusiasm and fervour first performed pooja at historic Shivalya temple on Shalamar Road and then with decorated chariot of Lord Shiva and His Tableau commenced Shobha Yatra on the city roads. The religious procession after passing through various city markets including Raghunath Bazar, Purani Mandi Parade Ground , Moti Bazar, Kachi Chawni finally culminated at the same temple. A large number of members of Kashmiri Pandit community participated in the Shobha Yatra. Route of the Yatra was specially decorated and people were seen throwing flower petals on the those who were part of the Shobha Yatra. Jhankies depicting life of Lord Shiva were part of the Shobha Yatra. The District Administration had made elaborate security arrangement for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. Senior police officers and others in the civil Administration were also seen accompanying the processionists. Meanwhile on the eve of Maha Shivratri, arrangements have been going in full swing in all temples. |
