UDHAMPUR, AUGUST 26- Director Health Services, Jammu Dr. Jasbir Singh today inaugurated “Health Mela” at village Thial. Director RCH Jammu Dr. Rakesh Khajuria, Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Udhampur and Block Medical Officer Majalta also present on the occasion. The mela was organized by Shri Durga Dass Memorial Trust in association with the Directorate of Health Services Jammu. The public of Village Thial and adjoining areas were provided Health Care Facilities which included services of Physician, Surgeon, Orthopaedic Surgeon, Gynae & Obstetrics, Eye, ENT Surgeons, Dermatologist, Dental Surgeon and the diagnostic services like X-ray, ECG, Ultrasound, Blood Sugar Testing, etc. About 100 patients were registered for cataract surgery, which will be operated today and tomorrow by Dr. Ashok Sharma, Lecturer, Eye Department, Govt. Medical College Jammu and Dr. Nirmal Gupta, B-Grade Specialist, District Hospital, Udhampur alongwith other team members. Dr. H.S. Sudan, Professor of Dermatology also attended the camp. Dr. M.L. Gupta, Physician Specialist, Dr. Poonam Mahajan Gynaecologist, Dr. Jyotsana, Gynaecologist, Dr. Lalit Gupta, Surgeon, Dr. Suman Shekher, Orthopaedician, Dr. Khullar, ENT Surgeon and Dr. Chander Mohan, Paediatrician and Dr. Seema and Dr. Pankaj, Assistant Surgeons also attended the camp. The facilities for free Blood Sugar testing were organized by Mr. Rohit Nargotra from Life Scan, Johnson & Johnson. More than 400 patients were tested for Blood Sugar. More than three thousand patients in different specialties were examined and provided free medicines. This “Health Mela” is organized every year in the memory of Late Shri Durga Dass Sharma was noted and well known Social Worker of this area, by his family members who are also the trustees of Shri Durga Dass Memorial Trust. Trustees includes Smt. Mansha Sharma Patron, other members are sons of Sh. Durga Dass Sharma namely Sh. Bishan Dass Sharma Chairman, Er. R.C. Sharma, Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Medical Superintendent, SMGS Hospital, Dr. Ashok Sharma, Lecturer, Eye Department, Govt. Medical College Jammu and Er. Anil Sharma, NRI. Besides the Headmaster of Boys High School, Thial, Teachers, students and the volunteers including the members of the Majalta Yuva Kranti Manch, took active part in organizing this mega event. IEC activities including banners / posters and educational medical were provided by the Directorate of Health Services, Jammu. Dr. Jasbir Singh, Director Health Services speaking on the occasion appreciating the efforts of the Trust for organizing such mega events for the welfare of the people and promised to provide one X-Ray machine, one Dental Chair, equipments for the laboratory and additional staff for the PHC Thial. He also informed that very shortly the construction work of the new PHC Thial on the land which is donated by Vasudev family will start immediately. |
