Azad asks J&K Bank to be partner in state’s welfare Says Bank has significant role in addressing un-employment problem

Srinagar, August 26 –Asking J&K Bank to play its significant role in addressing un-employment problem in the state and providing necessary material to lay edifice for durable economic upliftment, Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has laid stress for attitudinal checks in the functioning of the Bank.
Unveiling the new Logo of J&K Bank at a function at SKICC here Friday night, Chief Minister said that the ushering of new era in the state demands a big role form J&K Bank to be partner in the welfare activities adding that Bank should modify the solo attitude of earning profits alone.
“Profit earning, paying of rich dividends and seeking economic glory for the Bank is highly appreciable and, as a promoter of J&K Bank, it is encouraging and heartening for me to see the rapid economic growth of the Bank, however, it is not sufficient for a Bank like J&K which represents the aspirations of people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh and has acknowledged it by depicting the same in the new logo, to be away from social responsibility. You have to rise to the occasion and shoulder welfare responsibilities particularly for helping reduce unemployment problem”, Chief Minister mentioned.
Mr. Azad said that it has been observed that educated youth which approach banks for help to start livelihood ventures, industrial units and other economic activities get usually disheartened by the red tap, delay tactics and other complicacies, that normally rule the roost in Bank functioning.
Expressing highest hope that J&K Bank would be above such menaces and re-dedicate itself to the cause of general people with the launching of a new logo today, Mr. Azad said. “From tomorrow let your attitude be very people-friendly, dedication motto and sharing of the burden of society a responsibility”, he asserted.
Saying that as a promoter of the bank he is delighted to see the remarkable evolution and strengthening of Bank, however, as a Chief Minister of the state and public representative he feels that J&K Bank has to do a lot for economic prosperity and development of the state. He asked the Bank authorities to be liberal in extending financial support to the un-employed youth and help them not only to generate economic gains for themselves but others who are associated with their ventures.
Chief Minister said “days of hallow slogan raising are gone, mere slogans cannot provide bread and butter to the people nor give employment to un-employed or earn prosperity for the society. It is practical work and action on ground that matters”., he said.
“Unlike other states this part of the country is confronted with lot of burdens and we cant not shift the responsibility to each other, we have to shoulder it jointly”, Chief Minister asserted.
Showering praises on Chairman J&K Bank, Dr. Haseeb Draboo Mr. Azad highlighted the role and vision of Dr. Draboo’s and expressed confidence that in 21st century he would take the Bank to new highs and make it a model institute in the country attending social responsibilities also.
Mr. Azad said that though, complaints against J&K Bank’s functioning are not coming to him which he has found a common phenomena in outside the state, yet, this may be either for Chairman himself taking care of such complaints or people might be thinking that Chairman Dr. Draboo is part and parcel of the government as he is its Economic Advisor, as such, they shirk to complain, Chief Minister added in a lighter mood.
He said that on this historic day when J&K Bank writes a new chapter of its growth and progress, “I beseech upon all the functionaries of the Bank to be more forthcoming, more courteous, more responsive and more helpful to extend more to the deserving and initiate a new beginning by calling red-tap, managemental wranglings and other complicacies, in granting loans phenomenon past”.
Earlier, Chairman J&K Bank Dr. Haseeb Draboo presented a resume of growth and development of the Bank and identified the areas where J&K Bank is helping developmental scenario in the state.
Among others Deputy Chief Minister Mr. Muzaffar Hussain, Minister for Transport, Mr. Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Abdul Aziz Zargar, Minister for Haj and Auquaf, Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed, Minister for Social Welfare, Haji Nissar Ali, Minister for CAPD, Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, Minister for Power, Mr. Nawang Rigzin Jora, Minister for Forests, Mr. Tariaq Hamid Karra, Minister of State for R&B Mr. Gulchain Singh Charka , MLA Mr. Abdul Rahim Rather, MPs and Legislators, Chief Secretary Mr. C. Phunsog, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Mr. Anil Goswami, Commissioner Secretaries of various departments and investors were present on the occasion..
