| MCA student raped by 3 different groups | | | Sambalpur | Mar 6
Involvement of a third group in the 'gangrape' of an MCA student was being suspected by police after the arrest of eight youths belonging to two groups including the prime accused Sachin Sharma.
"There are indications that the girl was raped by three different groups", said a senior police officer adding the victim who had lost her mental stability after the incident on February 23 night, was gradually improving.
Superintendent of Police Sanjay Kumar said the girl was abaondoned at a secluded place after subjected to gangrape at Budharaja Hillock on February 23 night and at Brook Hill of Sambalpur town on February 24 morning.
Optimistic of arresting all those involved in the incident, the SP said it was a challenge for the police. He said the police would request the judiciary to begin trial of the case in the Fast Track court for quick disposal.
He said the police colleccted some evidences from the eight arrested youths including a gold ear ring of the victim. All the accused were medically examined and interrogated, he said adding identification parade of the accused would be conducted after courts open in next three days.
Kumar said police were collecting scientific evidences relating to involvement of those in the incident. "We want to ensure that all the culprits are punished."
Local women had rescued the girl, an MCA student in Sambalpur University and in her early 20s, from Budharaja area in the town on February 24 morning. |
