Hakeem asks youth to avail self employment schemes

Srinagar, August 26 – Minister for CA&PD Hakim Mohammad Yasin today said that government has framed some 300 self-employment schemes to provide gainful employment to the educated unemployed youth in the state .
Speaking at the day long awareness camp organized by Employment Department at Sheikh-ul Aalam Hall, Budgam said the problem of unemployment in the state is one of the biggest challenges that is faced to the state. Minister stressed upon qualified youth to take maximum advantage out of the schemes framed by the state government. He said it collective responsibility of those holding offices in the government to make provisions for bread and butter of young generation. He called upon the agencies, particularly, the financial institutions to do away with unnecessary hurdles that come up while processing the self-employment schemes.
He said that owing to the emerging situation, government can not provide jobs to all the educated youth, so the youth have to take recourse to the self-employment by way of which they will not only ensure employment for themselves but to the other unemployment youth also.
Mr. Yasin said that coalition government is committed for equitable development of the state and to do away with unemployment is one of the main components of the dream of Khushal Jammu and Kashmir envisioned by the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad. He said that employment potential areas available in the state which include horticulture, tourism, industries, and food processing can provide ample opportunity to entrepreneurs for setting up their income generating units.
He called upon the concerned officers to consolidate all the process involved in establishing self employment units under a single window clearance system. He asked the officers to be available and work for timely redressal of people’s grievances.
Referring to the achievements registered in the district during the last year, the Minister said that two Degree Colleges were set up in the district besides dozens of High and other schools were upgraded. He said government has formulated comprehensive plans to set up mini hydro power projects at Nullah Sukhnag, Shaliganga and Doodhganga in the district. The projects would not only provide uninterrupted power supply to the area but also provide job opportunities to the unemployed youth in the district. He said government has set up two development authorities for developing the Doodhpathri, and Yusmarg in the district, adding that works being take under these authorities would change the entire development scenario of the area in coming days. He asked the people to cooperate with the government for effective implementation of policies and programmes launched by the coalition government for the socio-economic development of the state.
Among other the function was attended by the Director Employment Azad Ahmad Lone, Additional District Development Commissioner, Mr. Afaq Ashayi, SSP Budgam and senior functionaries of the district.
