| Qazi concludes weeklong visits of Jammu division | | | Srinagar, August 26 – The coalition government headed by dynamic leadership of Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad is committed to provide all basic amenities to the people living in every nook and corner of the state. Soon after taking over in November 2005 from pervious coalition partner did not only initiated concrete steps to carry forward the polices and programmes but also launched a gigantic development programme for the prosperity and overall development of Jammu & Kashmir besides giving boost to peace and dialogue process already in motion in the state. This was stated by the Minister for Public Health Engineer (PHE), Irrigation and Flood Control Qazi Mohammad Afzal while addressing series of public gatherings during his weeklong extensive tour of Jammu division. Addressing a public gathering at Neel of Banihal Tehsil, the Minister said that the present government is taking all possible measures to provide relief and solace to the people living in far-flung areas of the state, He said work on water supply scheme, Neel is in full swing at a cost of Rs. 95 lakh, which, on completion would angument water supply in the area. At Banihal Khari Mr. Qazi appealed the people to extend their full cooperation to the government in implementation of the development and welfare schemes so that dream of Kushal Jammu & Kashmir is translated into reality. At Gool Udhampure, the Minister said that 6 water supply schemes under ARWSP at an estimated cost of 13.59 crore have been sanctioned for Gool block. These include water supply schemes Seripora, Wantany, Deeda,Gool and Sangaldam. Besides, 3 more water supply schemes at a cost of Rs. 6.33 crore are under active consideration of the government. He said 6 irrigation schemes at an expenditure of Rs. 1,50 crore are under execution in Gool area while Rs. 10.50 crore Khatekul irrigation is also under consideration of Government. Minister directed the concerned authorities for digging of tube well at Barakund so that drinking water is made available to the people of the area. He also directed for completion of 3 out of 6 schemes before the onset of winter. During inspection of Ravi Tawi canal at Kuthwa, Mr. Qazi Afzal said that the all out lined pipes and pumps would be replaced by the scientifically designed new ones. |
